Durable Slant

I have a 1980 300 D Mercedes-Benz and I need to the following questions.?

Mercedes-Benz 300 D 1980 NON TURBO
Are they supposed to vibrate at idle?
Are the shifts supposed to be a bit rough?
MY BR window isn't working but the power is still working in it but it wont move but why is it still not going up and down.
-Where can I get EURO headlights?
-Lastly is the car supposed to be really slow when going up slanted hills and roads?

I love my Mercedes 300 D it is the most durable Mercedes series ever but is sort of rough and slow so I need to know if thats normal!The doors shut with such a solid metallic thud I just love how the Germans construct these cars!

How much will these cars be worth in the future in mint condition.

Yes, the 300D will shake a fair amount at idle. You may want to check the motor mounts, though. If they're original they've probably packed it in as far a isolating the vibration from the cabin.

MB automatics, up through about the 2000 model year, were very "snappy" shifters. This was as much in response for the traditional German demand for feedback from their cars as it was to reduce wear on the bands and clutches. They're beefy enough that the increased shock loading isn't going to cause any harm. Since then they've been "tuned" for the target market, much smoother for the US market.

You're going to have to open up that door to find out why the window won't work. Could be any one of a number of things. Burned out motor, broken linkage, window jammed in the track, etc.

I got Euro headlights for my old 300 at a junkyard in Germany while on a business trip over there. Check ebay, someone may have them there.

Yes, the 300D will be quite slow, especially going uphill. This is particularly true with the non-turbo versions. It was build for economy and durability not speed.
